A good album, but I can’t quite give it a higher score right now. On the plus side, it’s a post-metal album that doesn’t make me want to kill myself with how corny the chord progressions are. It has an “epic” feel to it that immerses you in the album. For the first few tracks at least. Then it just keeps going, and going, and going. The 1 hour and 15 minute length really gets to you, especially when the reach the 10th track (which really should’ve been the end) and realize there’s still another 10 minutes track to go. I also think that, even though it is an “atmospheric” sludge metal album, it over utilizes the atmosphere part of the equation and there aren’t enough instrumentals to keep me interested. Very solid but still falls to many of the atmo sludge tropes.
